Creative Assembly has confirmed that Alien: Isolation 2 will take place months after the first game and is once again inspired by the first Foreign movie.
In an interview with TechRadar Gaming at Summer Game Fest 2026 (SGF), creative director Al Hope and animation director Simon Ridge shared how the studio is expanding the world of Foreign in the next sequel, confirm that the movies are still the “base.”
“We really love the Aliens universe, obviously,” Hope said. “I think for us, the first game was really close to the first movie in appearance, in [the protagonist] amanda [to Ripley]but in Isolation 2Taking place months after the events of the first game, we are still in that wonderful space that we adore.
“We believe that the first film is still a very rich vein that we can take advantage of, explore and expand. It seemed to us a very good opportunity to continue moving forward, delving deeper into that part of the intellectual property.”
Ridge added that the first Foreign The film was “a very important way of guiding us” when the team made the first game, and was the “ground” for everything they built.
“Keeping that in mind again with the sequel to make sure we’re making something that offers a similar experience, because that’s the groundwork, but then also with the new parts that are added to it,” Ridge said, which he and Hope mentioned included the new exterior environments, which the first film doesn’t feature.
“We’re very serious about creating something that feels very authentic,” Hope continued, explaining how the team is still creating “new elements” to “expand” the world.
“Our goal is to stay really true to the spirit of that first film,” he said. “Authenticity is the lens through which we do everything.”
Alien: Isolation 2 It is now in development and will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
