After battling an injury during Saturday’s third round at the RBC Canadian Open, Brooks Koepka opted not to try in the final round and ultimately withdrew from the PGA Tour event Sunday morning.

The Tour announced that the five-time major champion had withdrawn due to a hand injury shortly before his final round tee time. Koepka was six under par and seven shots off the lead heading into the final round at TPC Toronto before giving up.

While speaking to the media Saturday afternoon after his 72 in the third round, Koepka shared details of the injury that was causing him discomfort.

“I don’t know what it is. I have a hard time gripping the club with my ring finger and my pinky, so I can’t grab it,” Koepka explained. “So the club is kind of fair, my fingers were coming loose, I was a little numb. I don’t know what the deal was, but I hope we work it out.”

Koepka also said he had never had to deal with this type of injury before it broke out in Canada.

The hand injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for the 36-year-old, as the US Open takes place next week at Shinnecock Hill, the site of Koepka’s second US Open victory in 2018.

Since leaving LIV Golf and returning to the PGA Tour under the Returning Member Program in early 2026, Koepka had been posting strong results in the lead-up to the year’s third major championship.

In his 11 starts before the Canadian Open, Koepka had posted six top-20 finishes, including a T12 at the Masters in April.

Koepka’s withdrawal also causes him to lose the opportunity to earn valuable FedEx Cup points as a player who has no status for the remaining Signature Events on the schedule.

With his history at Shinnecock and his consistent play this season, Koepka was among the short list of players who could make noise at the US Open starting Thursday, but now his status appears to be up in the air.
