The PTI dismisses Ali Amin Gandapur of the position of president of the KP party

Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) has announced a key change in leadership in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, with the resignation of the main minister Ali Amin Gandapur as provincial president of the party.

Junaid Akbar, a member of the National Assembly, has been designated in his replacement.

The decision was confirmed by the PTI leader, Salman Akram Raja, during a press conference in Rawalpindi.

Raja declared that Gandapur’s departure was voluntary, which allowed him to concentrate on his responsibilities as a prime minister in the midst of pressing challenges, including public order issues in the province.

“This decision is aligned with Gandapur’s request, since he wanted to devote himself completely to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s government,” Raja said.

As reported, the leadership change was discussed during a meeting between Junaid Akbar and the president of the PTI, Imran Khan, in prison.

During the meeting there were also several important figures of the party, including Atif Khan, Malik Ahmad Khan Bachhar and Mian Farhat Abbas.

Raja hinted more organizational changes within the PTI, including the possible appointment of former MNA Alia Hamza for an important role in Punjab.

The PTI continues to participate in current political debates and the party advocates the creation of a commission before formal conversations with the government.

Raja said that the PTI is open to a meeting on January 28 if the government continues with the proposal.

Junaid Akbar elected president of the PAC

Junaid Akbar, of the PTI, was previously elected without opposition as president of the PAC on Friday.

The position was vacant since the Government assumed power after the February 2024 elections. The PAC, which supervises the audit of government income and expenses, is considered the most influential committee of Parliament.

Although the rules do not demand that the PAC presidency fall into the opposition, it has traditionally been assigned to opposition members to guarantee transparency in financial matters.

Akbar’s candidacy had the support of several key figures, including Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, the opposition leader Omar Ayub Khan, Senator Shibli Faraz and others. Outstanding members of the Committee, such as Mna Riaz Fathana, Malik Amir Dogar, Wajih Qamar and Sardar Mohammad Yusuf Zaman, also supported their nomination.

After his choice, Junaid Akbar Khan thanked the committee for his confidence and promised to lead the PAC with the full cooperation of all members.
