The royal family seemed in good spirits as they gathered to celebrate the nuptials of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling, welcoming the new member.
Harriet, who is an NHS nurse, already seemed to get on quite well with the members. The wedding took place earlier this month and appeared to be a happy occasion for the family.
However, shocking drama unfolded behind the scenes between Prince William and Queen Camilla over the wedding, sources revealed to Heat magazine.
The bride-to-be was embroiled in a major dispute behind the Palace walls over royal jewelery protocol. Harriet is not a royal, but there are a lot of mixed feelings about non-royals borrowing royal treasures.
“William was furious with Camilla for effectively blocking Harriet and Peter’s access to the royal jewelery collection,” the source said. “
“He wanted them to have that option, but Camilla was adamantly against it, which was a big, heated topic of conversation in the run-up to the wedding, and everyone was quite surprised to see William and Camilla get into it like that.”
However, Harriet never chose anything from the private collection and opted for a Pragnell family piece. Sources claim this was Harriet’s diplomacy and not William and Camilla winning an argument.
Sources claimed that although the atmosphere at the wedding was a bit tense, since Prince William and Queen Camilla are sticklers for protocol, they did not cause a scene.
“They barely recognized each other, but they stayed very civilized, so at least there was no outward ugliness.”
