SC to proclaim verdict in judiciary case tomorrow

The Supreme Court of Pakistan will announce its verdict on the contempt of court case against the additional registrar tomorrow.

The decision, reserved by a two-member bench comprising Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Aqeel Abbasi, pertains to alleged violations involving scheduling of bench powers cases.

Earlier Thursday, the Supreme Court concluded hearings in the Bench Powers case, with Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, commenting that Prima Facie, a two-member judicial committee, had overlooked a court order.

While the court acknowledged that it could issue contempt notices, it refrained from doing so.

The contempt proceedings arose from an intra-Court appeal when the additional registrar alleged that hearing dates were altered in official orders.

Initially scheduled for January 27, the hearing date was moved to January 16, during which one judge left the bench.

The additional registrar, in his appeal, argued that he was made a scapegoat, citing procedural violations such as lack of opportunity to explain his position before the issuance of the show cause notice.

He prayed that the notice be declared null and void, stating that the principles of natural justice were not upheld.
