King Charles delights his grandfather with good news

King Charles has earned a reputation as a doting grandfather, who will be reunited with his US-based grandchildren after four years.

While matters are being dealt with behind the scenes, the monarch continues with his work. Charles seemed to have made his grandfather’s day after sending him some positive news.

Steven Thompson, who works as a self-employed accountant, received a letter from Charles informing him that he would be awarded a BEM. [British Empire Medal] in the king’s birthday honors for his decades of volunteer work.

The 62-year-old initially thought it was bad news that he was caught in a speeding incident that occurred a few days earlier, but the “official-looking letter” lifted his spirits.

Steven has coached some of the top female athletes for over three decades. He recalled taking his son, Matthew, to Fairwood Waterloo Rugby Club (FWFC) when he was about five years old, some 28 years ago now.

And now he proudly shared his “full circle” moment when his grandson, Daniel, plays for the team.

“If in some way I can get that group of young people hooked and enjoy the sport [then that’s great]”, said Echo. “I have had some lovely messages this week saying how much the younger age groups have sparked their interest and passion in the sport.”
