Naval chief promises to modernize war techniques and tools to consolidate maritime influence


Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf on Wednesday called for a re-evaluation of traditional war concepts to keep pace with the changing nature of modern conflicts, underlining the importance of technological advancement and strategic adaptability to address emerging maritime security challenges.

The naval chief said this during an address to the participants of the 55th Pakistan Navy Staff Course during his visit to the Pakistan Navy War College in Lahore, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Emphasizing new trends in warfare, the naval chief recognized the importance of a technologically competent and intellectually capable military workforce.

Highlighting the “evolutionary character” of modern conflicts and emerging challenges to maritime security, he highlighted the importance of “adaptive strategies” to effectively address both conventional and unconventional threats.

On the occasion, Admiral Ashraf also reaffirmed Pakistan Navy’s commitment to innovation and indigenization. It also examined unity among factions in the military.

He urged course participants to strengthen their strategic understanding and operational foresight to meet future security challenges.

“The Indian Ocean region remains fluid and contested,” the maritime chief stressed, highlighting the changing geopolitical dynamics and power rivalries affecting the regional security environment.

In his concluding remarks, Admiral Ashraf congratulated the participants on the successful completion of the PN Personnel Course and advised them to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, analytical rigor and innovation in their future assignments.
