Arch Manning took the high school football scene by storm and, along with his famous last name, raised expectations when he joined the Texas Longhorns program.
As college football analysts debate what Manning could bring to the Longhorns possibly in his final year in college, his grandfather laments the hype surrounding the quarterback.

“I was a little disappointed by a lot of people,” Archie Manning told KXAN-TV about his grandson’s expectations entering college. “The whole thing. They kind of crowned Arch before he played. And I just didn’t think that was fair. Yeah, it was a little bit of a rough start, I played against a great team, and anyway.
“But I’ve never been more proud of anyone in my life for the way Arch fought through what he had to go through last year, and the way he played, you know, the last eight or nine games of the season.”

The rumor will grow again with a few months left before the start of the college football season. Arch Manning is expected to lead the Longhorns to the College Football Playoff and distinguish himself from other potential NFL Draft quarterbacks.
He had 3,163 passing yards and 26 touchdown passes in 2025.

The Longhorns begin their journey to 2026 against Texas State on September 5. While it may be a walk in the park, their true test will be Sept. 12 against Ohio State at home.
