Thekla has every reason to talk as much trash as she has.
She made her All Elite Wrestling (AEW) debut last year and quickly rose through the ranks to win the AEW Women’s World Championship in a match against Kris Statlander in February. She continued to hold the title even when three opponents came before her at Double or Nothing.

Thekla declared war on Stardom and New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) in the lead-up to Forbidden Door. She demanded that Stardom send their best men to challenge her at the Forbidden Door, and they obeyed. Starlight Kid took on the “Toxic Spider” and the two put on a great match in front of the professional wrestling audience at the SAP Center in San Jose, California.
Thekla taunted Starlight Kid throughout the match and it seemed like she got more than she bargained for at some points in the match.
Starlight Kid didn’t stay down and did everything she could to bring the AEW Women’s World Championship back to Japan with her. Starlight Kid worked on Thekla’s knee towards the end of the match. But the champion would not give up.

Thekla broke out of the submission hold and avoided being pinned for just a few seconds. Thekla was tested more than any opponent she has faced since becoming champion.
The “Toxic Spider” stomped twice and finally put Starlight Kid aside to retain the title.
With Stardom President Taro Okada in attendance, Thekla continued her assault on Starlight Kid. Skye Blue and Julia Hart came out to support Thekla. Hart handed Thekla a pair of scissors and the champion ripped the mask off of Starlight Kid’s head and spat on her.
Thekla taunted Okada with the mask and hit the wrestling executive with it.
