Kevin Owens has been away from the ring for several months.

The last time a professional wrestling fan saw him inside the ring was weeks before WrestleMania 41, when he announced to the world that he needed neck surgery that would keep him out of action for several months.

Owens has been seen sparingly since then. He has appeared on “WWE LFG” as a trainer and recently made an appearance on the NXT pre-show The Great American Bash.

Pak Gazette Digital asked one of Owens’ best friends, Sami Zayn, about him in a recent interview leading up to Night of Champions. Zayn said that getting Owens in a place where he could return to the ring simply takes time.

“I don’t want to talk outside of school sharing their medical supplies,” Zayn said. “The procedure that was done on him takes time. He’ll do his due diligence: he’ll do rehab exercises and all that. But it’s really a matter of time when you’re talking about fusions and those types of procedures, it just takes time to get to where you need to be.”

Zayn added that either of WWE’s biggest shows, “Monday Night Raw” or “Friday Night SmackDown,” would see a significant increase in quality thanks to Owens’ presence.

“I think I hope more than anyone that he comes back soon. I think the fans have really been… They ask me a lot about him. So, it’s clear how loved he is and how missed he is,” she said. “Needless to say, he is an extremely valuable talent. He is a unique talent that leaves a huge void when you don’t have him on your roster.

“And I just think about how much better our show would be with him, whether it’s SmackDown or Raw, because of what he brings to the table. So, I think when he comes back, he’s really going to add a lot of depth and dimension and excitement and quality programming to any show he lands on. It goes without saying.”

Zayn and Owens have been mainstays in WWE since they joined WWE.
