Are you looking for a different day?
A new NYT Strands puzzle appears at midnight every day for your time zone, which means some people are always playing “today’s game” while others play “yesterday’s.” If you are instead looking for the Thursday puzzle then click here: NYT Strands Tips and Answers for Thursday, July 2 (Game #851).
Strands is the latest NYT word game after Wordle, Spelling Bee, and Connections, and it’s a lot of fun. It can be difficult, though, so read on for my Strands suggestions.

“It’s like talking to a brick wall.” I know exactly what that feels like, thanks to having grown up with a father to whom all of today’s words could apply; I would add a few more, given the space.
Maybe that’s why the search came easily to me, despite a couple of well-hidden words and a spangram that defied the normal up-to-down, side-to-side routine.
Much more difficult was searching the board for words that were not from the game.
Answers from yesterday’s NYT Strands (Thursday, July 2, Game #851)
- BECHAMEL
- MARINARA
- SRIRACHA
- TERIYAKI
- TZATZIKI
- SPANGRAM: GETSAUCY
