- Audio Pro just introduced the A15 W (yes, on a Friday afternoon)
- The progeny of the Danish brand offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and portability
- Available now, priced at $400 / £299 / around AU$579
If the Audio Pro A15 2022 was a natural Sonos Move rival, the newly launched Audio Pro A15 W 2026 could happily clash with the Sonos Move 2.
It could also compete with a new series of Bluetooth-only ‘HYG’ speakers from Jamo, the Denon Home 400 (which it looks quite similar to), something from WiiM’s growing arsenal of products or the new Bose Lifestyle Ultra Speaker; best advice on that: a review will be posted over the weekend and it’s worth a read…
However, back to the A15 W and what we have here is a portable wireless speaker that offers immersive sound, flexible streaming options and battery-powered portability, designed for both indoor and outdoor listening.
And that’s where it has an edge over some (if not all) of the competition, because the average Wi-Fi-enabled speaker usually needs to stay plugged into an outlet inside your home.
In fact, in addition to Bluetooth capability and an 11-hour battery life, you also get an IPX2 “waterproof” rating, so it’ll survive a European rain shower (if not the deluges we’ve been seeing during World Cup matches in the US this week).
Audio Pro tells me it can also be used as a multi-room system with other A15 W speakers (or indeed any W-series speakers from the Audio Pro range), but because it also supports Apple AirPlay 2 and Google Cast, it should be easy to welcome into existing Apple or Android-based multi-room systems.
The Professional (Audio) Mindset
I’ve long been a fan of Audio Pro speakers, starting with the Bluetooth-only T3+ which I listen to every day, but having tried the five-star Audio Pro C20 with Wi-Fi enabled, I’m well aware of the company’s admirable way of decidedly ‘Hygge’-adjacent AirPlay and Google Cast speakers with HDMI ARC, sporting secondary output and RCA connection.
Interestingly, the grille appears fixed on this model, and I’ve always liked removing the grilles from my Audio Pro speakers to see the relaxed, rocking configurations of the drivers underneath.
The A15 W features a two-way speaker system with a dedicated tweeter along with a 4.5-inch woofer. You can also stream music over Bluetooth, with better quality aptX support, and if you’re using Wi-Fi, the latest Audio Pro app will help you access compatible music streaming services directly. I’ve used it before and I really like it.
For instant access to playlists and Internet radio stations, there are six preset buttons on the top plate to offer one-touch playback without having to know where you left your phone. A 3.5mm auxiliary input also allows connection to portable music players and compatible turntables or CD players. So, there’s no HDMI ARC, sub-out or RCA this time around (its newer rival, the Denon 400, also lacks these things), but there is the same contemporary fabric finish and contrasting aluminum control buttons you’ve come to expect from the brand.
The Audio Pro A15 W is available in dark gray and light gray finishes and will set you back $400/£299 (which is around AU$579), whichever color you choose.
How good does it sound? I can’t answer for that yet. But I’ll be working on it…
