Mexico and England will meet in their 2026 FIFA World Cup round of 16 match on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at 8:00 pm ET from the Mexico City Stadium.
Mexico has won all four of its games in this tournament, scoring eight goals and maintaining a perfect defensive record during the group stage and its round of 32 victory over Ecuador. Julián Quiñones leads the team with three goals in the tournament, while Raúl Jiménez has added two, including a goal against Ecuador that gave him 47 international goals for Mexico.
England is in the round of 16 for the third consecutive tournament. Harry Kane has been the decisive figure, scoring five goals so far, including both goals in the comeback victory over the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Kane became the first English player to score two goals in a World Cup knockout match since Gary Lineker in 1990.
Below are details on how to watch.
How to watch Mexico vs England
Preview Mexico vs England
Jude Bellingham finding space between Mexico’s midfield and defense is the key battle in this one.
Bellingham is England’s connector, dropping deep to dictate play and still arriving late into the box. England have created 53 chances in four games and many of the best start with him. Clean touches in those inside channels and England quickly turn possession into a real danger.
Mexico’s response is discipline. El Tri has not allowed a goal in four games, and that column closes spaces before attacks reach the area. Draw Bellingham in early, force them to open up and the game will stay on Mexico’s terms.
Note England’s first possessions in the middle third. That will tell you if Bellingham is running this game or if he is getting swallowed up by Mexico’s form.
Player to watch

Kane is one of the best center forwards of his generation. So far this tournament, Kane has been very effective in rescuing England from otherwise mediocre performances. In this game, Kane will face the best defensive team in the tournament who will be very focused on stopping him.
But even if Kane can be prevented from scoring, he can also be very valuable by returning to the midfield and helping create plays. If Kane struggles in this game, it could be a very long day for the Three Lions. On the other hand, if Kane can find the back of the net early, England will have an easier time dealing with the crowd and altitude the rest of the way.
