Professional wrestling fans were reminded last week how much closer their favorite superstars are to the end than the beginning.
It happened for the first time on “Monday Night Raw.” Seth Rollins came out in the final segment to challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. The prospect of Reigns and Rollins facing off again may have seemed a little boring on the surface, but Rollins explained to Reigns that it could be one of the last times, if not the last, they fight in the ring again.

“This may be your last chance to close that circle. You and I came into this company together. We walked through that crowd. We broke down the door. We kicked in the old generation. We made this place ours. We created the greatest generation in the history of this industry. You and me. We did it together,” Rollins said. “Man, we’re a lot closer to the end than we are to the beginning. And just as it was when we arrived, young, hungry, ready to take over, there’s a new generation of young men and women coming in and ready to do the same to us.
“So, again, this may be our last chance to do this dance, brother. What do you want your legacy to be? When you’re retired, you’ll go down as one of the greatest of all time. There’s no doubt about it. Probably No. 1. You’re a surefire Hall of Famer. Hell, they should give you your own Hall of Fame show. You’d be the only one and I might even be there to induct you. But if you don’t accept this challenge, you’ll never be able to escape the ghost of Seth. “Rollins.”
Rollins and Reigns are both in their 40s and at times have proven they can perform longer than people expect. But Rollins has experienced several injuries since the build-up to WrestleMania 40. He knows better than anyone how long it takes to recover from injuries.
In All Elite Wrestling’s “Dynamite,” the hint of pro wrestling stars reaching the twilight of their careers was a little more subtle.

Omega agreed to the stipulation of facing MJF for the AEW World Championship on next week’s “Dynamite.” If he loses to MJF, he will no longer be allowed to compete for the title.
“There has been no greater passion, no greater pleasure than to walk through these ropes and give people everything I have,” Omega said. “Whether it was a 14-year-old kid or a broken 42-year-old man, you still get the same 100% Kenny Omega every time. I’ve won titles. I’ve broken records, records that may never be broken again. I have a career that I could probably hang my hat on and be proud of, look back on fondly, but you see, there’s a selfish part of me that knows it’s just not enough.
“There’s a part of me that thinks there’s still a little bit left in the tank. There’s a part of me that thinks if I can believe, if Will (Ospreay) can believe, if the Young Bucks can believe, if you guys can believe just one more time, then I know I could be a champion that each and every one of you can be proud of and I could be on the biggest stage AEW has ever walked on at Wembley Stadium and I can represent All Elite Wrestling. where the wrestling is better, where I can against Will Ospreay, the winner of the Owen Hart Cup.”
These moments are a reminder to fans that the generational talents that have built professional wrestling over the past two decades are slowly falling apart. It’s a reminder to bask in the glory of the greats while they’re still around.
Reigns vs. Rollins will be at SummerSlam while Omega faces MJF this Wednesday.

Cody Rhodes gets another title shot
Sami Zayn pulled off a surprising victory at WWE Night of Champions to close out June and left some people on the WWE roster trying to outdo each other for a shot at the WWE Undisputed Championship.
Jey Uso lost to Oba Femi and decided to go to SmackDown to try to get a shot at Zayn’s title. Cody Rhodes, however, was pinned by Zayn to lose the Uso Championship and Rhodes would be forced to fight to earn the number one contender spot.
Rhodes performed multiple Cross Rhodes maneuvers on Uso before pinning him to win.
Zayn and Rhodes will face off for the WWE Undisputed Championship on “Monday Night Raw” in Chicago.

New TBS champion crowned
Willow Nightingale’s fall due to injury left two major holes in AEW. She was forced to leave the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament and needed to leave the TBS Championship.
AEW announced a Survival of the Fittest match to crown the new TBS champion. Hikaru Shida, Harley Cameron, Kris Statlander, Maika, Persephone and Queen Aminata qualified for the match, which took place Wednesday night on “Dynamite.”
Persephone looked strong as she took out two opponents, but she ran into Statlander, who rolled her and pinned her. Persephone got revenge on Statlander when she hit her with the TBS title belt. Shida put Statlander in submission control and the referee called off the match when Statlander was knocked out.
It is Shida’s first reign as champion.

Kendal Gray’s first promo

Kendal Gray defeated Lola Vice for the WWE NXT Women’s Championship at The Great American Bash. On Tuesday she made her first promotion as champion.
Gray was relatable and acknowledged that she is not the best on the microphone, but promised to fight like the champion she is.
“I know I may not look like a normal champion. I mean, last week, I sat in front of Lola Vice in her designer dresses, her heels, all glammed up. And at that moment I thought, ‘That’s what a champion looks like.’ But that’s not me. That’s not my style. I mean, I can’t even sit in the makeup chair for five minutes without going crazy. And to be honest with you, I always take off half the makeup they put on me before I come here. here.
“So, yeah, I probably won’t feel comfortable dressing like a ‘Barbie.’ in the competition and when you get in the ring with Kendal Grey, she’s my rival, she’s my rhythm, she’s my rhythm and all the other girls in the locker room right now, sooner or later they’re going to find out that they just can’t keep up with Kendal.
Gray certainly has a target on his back.
Kali Armstrong wanted to be Grey’s first opponent and general manager Rob Stone told her that “actions speak louder than words. Armstrong took it seriously when he attacked Gray later that night. Still, it didn’t seem to be enough to get that title shot right away.
Gray will have her first opportunity to defend the title this week against Nattie Neidhart.
