Shehbaz says government provides education and training as per international standards

ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday directed Pakistani embassies abroad to intensify efforts to identify and secure employment opportunities for the country’s workforce, emphasizing that the government was committed to expanding job prospects abroad for skilled and qualified Pakistanis.
Chairing a review meeting on youth employment, the prime minister noted that Pakistan’s workforce possessed immense potential and emphasized the need to strengthen international outreach to connect skilled workers with global labor markets.
He instructed embassies to actively collect and share information on available jobs and required qualifications in host countries.
The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Overseas Pakistan, the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and the Prime Minister’s Youth Program to ensure that the workforce, particularly the youth, receive vocational training along with foreign language courses and internationally recognized certifications.
He said the government was providing education and training in accordance with international standards to enhance the global employability of Pakistan’s highly skilled workforce.
UN Secretary General candidate
The candidate for the position of Secretary General of the United Nations, María Fernanda Espinosa, visited the Prime Minister in the House of Representatives on Monday.
Welcoming Maria, the Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s long-standing commitment to multilateralism as well as the great importance it has always attached to the United Nations.
He expressed hope that the next UN leadership will uphold the UN Charter, ensure the implementation of Security Council resolutions, respect international law and treaties, and strengthen cooperation among member states to promote global peace and prosperity.
Maria praised Pakistan’s role in recent regional peace efforts and praised its active contribution to the United Nations over decades.
She had previously visited Pakistan in 2019 in her capacity as President of the United Nations General Assembly.
