ZachXBT calls hardware wallets complete garbage; BTC stable near $65,000

Cryptocurrency researcher ZachXBT criticized hardware wallets on Thursday, calling them unreliable for signing transactions or storing significant funds.

In his opinion, all hardware wallet solutions existing today lack security and usability, making them unsuitable for high-risk operations.

He recommends using a dedicated iPhone solely as a signature device, reduced to wallet purposes only. This approach, he said, offers better control and fewer vulnerabilities than traditional hardware wallets, although he added the tongue-in-cheek caveat: “Only do this if you don’t have a low IQ.”

The researcher singled out Ledger as the worst offender, pointing to Ledger Live’s frequent updates that unnecessarily overhaul the user interface and apps, often breaking basic functions in the process. The post quickly sparked debate on crypto social media, with users sharing their own experiences with the frustrations of hardware wallets.
