Take Violent J from Insane Clown Posse for example. He gave a passionate reason for why he loves professional wrestling in a recent interview with Pak Gazette Digital. He said it was Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat at WrestleMania 3 that helped solidify that passion he had for professional wrestling.
“But wrestling, there’s nothing like professional wrestling in America,” he said. “There’s nothing like it, bro. It’s like a lot of people call men’s soap opera, men’s soap opera. Violent J said there is nothing he can compare professional wrestling to. But “male soap opera” might be the best description.
He said that being able to watch professional wrestling is something that gives him peace.
“There are so many things I don’t know what else to compare them to,” he said. “There’s nothing like wrestling. Like there’s literally nothing else like it. It’s so different from everything else in the stratosphere that I’ve loved my whole life. And now, at 53, I enjoy watching it. Especially when I see the s**t I grew up with.
Calm my anxiety. Like I’ve been there all my life. So it’s like looking at those old images, it’s like therapy for me. It’s been there all my life. And so even in my studio, I have posters of old wrestlers everywhere and everything, that calms my anxiety. It’s like something that takes me back to my childhood, you know? So, wrestling is in my heart. It’s in my blood. It’s in my DNA. You know what I mean? As much as music, but music is the real therapy for me. “I need to make music or I’ll explode.”
