COE refused to affirm whether to advocate mandatory sexual eligibility evidence for Olympics.

COE is the current head of Athletics World: the Government Body for International Athletics Competition. In 2023, the governing body harden its regulations on trans athletes to exclude transgender women who have gone through male puberty to compete in the women’s category. This regulation also reduced the maximum level of testosterone for eligible female competitors.

COE said that if he becomes president of the IOC, the new Olympic policy on trans inclusion “probably” will reflect what has established in world athletics.

While criticizing COI’s current policies on the subject, COE referred to an incident in recent Olympics in Paris. The recent summer games were eclipsed by the controversy when Imane Khelif de Algeria and Lin Yu-Ting of Taiwan won gold medals in the female boxing.

Both athletes had previously disqualified international competitions to fail in gender eligibility tests. However, the COI and current President Thomas Bach supported the inclusion of both athletes, insisting that they were qualified to compete as women under the current rules.

Coe said previously that the situation involved in Khelif and Lin made him feel “uncomfortable”, in a November interview with the BBC. It has been confirmed that none of the athletes is transgender.
