King Charles extended an olive branch to the Sussexes by inviting them to the royal residence during his recent visit to the UK, sparking speculation about the motives behind the meeting.
According to a new report, the 77-year-old monarch has given a firm ultimatum to his estranged son and daughter-in-law, while continuing to treat them with the respect due members of the royal family at the Highgrove summit.
However, the King made one thing clear to his special guests during the meeting as they drank tea and cream cakes with Harry, 41, and Meghan, 44, who have been dubbed the “frightful two” of the royal family.
A source close to the monarch stated: “Blood is blood,” citing that as the reason behind this public show of forgiveness.
Some Brits called the return “nauseous,” while The Royalist’s Tom Sykes asked: “Why has the King of England just handed the Sussexes the biggest prize of his six-year campaign (family rehabilitation, in his terms) for precisely nothing?”
No doubt Charles was very happy because spending time with Archie and Lilibet meant a lot to him, but Charles really took a risk by inviting them back into the fold.
Behind the palace walls, his reconciliation with the Sussexes also led the monarch to issue a shocking ultimatum to the California-based couple, making it clear that if they want to play any role in royal life, they will have to start following his rules, or else.
The source claims that he “made a point of making sure Harry and Meghan understand exactly where they stand and that from now on things happen on their terms, or don’t happen at all.”
