The federal government has begun consultations on possible austerity measures in light of the conflict between Iran and the United States as officials consider a series of cost-cutting measures that could be implemented if tensions between the two countries rise further, government sources said Tuesday.
According to sources, the government is expected to decide to reimpose a series of administrative restrictions as part of its contingency plan.
Among the proposals being considered is a reduction in the number of weekly working days, although a final decision has not yet been made.
The government is also considering limiting the number of official vehicles and reducing petrol and diesel consumption by government departments as part of proposed austerity measures.
