- OpenAI launches online and digital training for small businesses
- Partner plugins also released to automate common workflows
- ChatGPT Work, Codex now has 10 million users
OpenAI has launched a dedicated ChatGPT program for small businesses to help SMBs automate routine work and increase productivity without the teams and resources that larger businesses have access to.
The scheme is primarily an educational process, and will focus on training, in-person academies and practical guides. OpenAI will also launch dedicated agents and partnerships to support small business workflows.
Also included is the recently launched ChatGPT Work platform, with the software provider pushing its latest tool through the program, stating that ChatGPT Work and Codex are now said to have a combined total of 10 million users.
OpenAI sets its sights on small businesses
After gaining significant public interest following the launch of ChatGPT in late 2022 and spending many months and years improving the models, the company shifted its focus to certain fields such as finance and law. This latest step broadens its focus to a broader category of companies across domains, but more importantly, it unlocks significant volume for OpenAI. SMEs represent around 99% of the private sector worldwide.
Some of the support offered includes webinars demonstrating how to use ChatGPT Work, quick engineering guidance, and other interactive guides. In-person events will also be held across the United States through OpenAI Academy.
Select plugins and skills are also available to handle common SMB workflows, with initial partners including Dropbox, Shopify, Intuit, Slack, and Wix.
“Small businesses can choose the right level of intelligence model for the job at hand, collectively giving agile teams more flexibility to balance quality, speed, and cost,” OpenAI wrote.
GPT-5.6 and ChatGPT Work are now available to almost all subscribers, with access via the web, desktop app, or mobile app that differs slightly depending on whether you are a paying customer.
