Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Prime Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has held a meeting with a high-level United Nations delegation to discuss ongoing public welfare initiatives in the province.

The delegation, directed by the UN resident coordinator for Pakistan, Mohammad Yahya, included members such as Mrs. Hiroko, Mrs. Aphki Bootsman and Carlos Abbas Geha, among others.

During the meeting, which also saw the participation of MNA Faisal Amin Gandapur, additional main secretary for planning and other upper provincial officials, detailed discussions were made on several well -being programs that were implemented in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by UN agencies.

One of the key issues of the discussion was the health sector, particularly efforts to eliminate polyomyelitis virus, improve maternal and child health, and prevent neonatal deaths.

Prime Minister Gandapur emphasized that the polio eradication remains one of the main priorities of the provincial government, with significant efforts and focused on collaboration with international associated organizations to make anti-political campaigns more effective.

In addition, the prime minister highlighted the government’s commitment to improve education, particularly for girls, and efforts to increase literacy rates in fused districts. He shared that 36,000 scholarships have been provided to girls in these districts to encourage their education.

Other topics covered during the meeting included the environment, culture, tourism and rural development.

The prime minister also assured the delegation that the provincial government is taking serious measures to guarantee the well -being of all religious and cultural minorities in the region, with initiatives such as providing solar systems to all places of worship.

Safety and transport problems related to UN agencies that work in the province were also discussed. Prime Minister Gandapur assured the delegation that the provincial government would work closely with the UN agencies and take all necessary measures to guarantee the security of its staff.

The UN delegation praised the efforts of the provincial government in the health sector and recognized the ongoing work in various social welfare initiatives.

Prime Minister Gandapur expressed his gratitude for the continuous support of UN agencies and reaffirmed the government’s approach in areas that will have a direct positive impact on people’s lives.
