KP IG says 15 terrorists killed and several more injured in retaliation operation

Nine police officers, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Diyar Khan, were martyred and 28 others, including DSP Mujahid Hussain, were injured after terrorists attacked Khazina Banda police check post in Hangu district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday night, while police killed 15 terrorists and injured several others in a retaliatory operation, Inspector General (IG) of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP). said Zulfiqar Hameed.
According to the IG, the terrorists attacked the Khazina Banda police check post with heavy weapons. Police personnel stationed at the post “fought bravely and organized a strong defense” against the attack.
He said: “Additional police personnel, led by SDPO City, were immediately dispatched to reinforce the checkpoint.” However, the terrorists had already laid an ambush along the route and attacked the reinforcements, causing heavy damage to the lead armored personnel carrier (APC).
Despite what the IG described as challenging conditions, officers and police personnel “fought the enemy with exceptional bravery and professional skill.” He said “15 terrorists were killed and several more injured in the retaliation operation.”
The IG said DSP Diyar Khan was martyred during the prolonged exchange of fire along with eight other policemen, while 28 officers and staff, including DSP Mujahid Hussain, sustained injuries.

He added that the exchange of fire between terrorists and police continues.
Paying tribute to the police personnel, Zulfiqar Hameed said, “The sons of KP police stood like rocks against the enemy under extremely difficult and stressful circumstances and embraced martyrdom.”
He said recommendations would be made for the department’s highest honors for the martyred personnel, adding that he would personally meet with the families of the martyrs to offer condolences and pay tribute to the injured officers and staff.
“The morale of the KP police is high and their determination is rock-solid. This war to completely eliminate terrorists from every corner of the province will continue with full force and determination,” the IG said.
