Philips Audio has revealed a new set of products, all designed with a strong retro sensation, called Century Range. As the name implies, the idea is to celebrate the 100 years of Philips audio names, and the designs are based on different parts of the last century. Ah, and everyone is named after great music artists.
The collection consists of two discs of discs with incorporated speakers, two pairs of headphones and a portable digital radio, which will officially launch in September 2025 in the United Kingdom and Europe (the availability of the United States is not yet confirmed, but Philips Audio makes products there and will launch its new H8000E headphones of noise cancellation there).
I saw them all in person, although I could not listen to them because the units were not yet ready, but I saw enough to excite myself to try them, because there are some really great things.
The Ringo
First, we have to talk about the Ringo headphones, which are designed to resemble the headphones in the 80’s ear that would have hoped to see in all Venice Beach in California connected to Walkman.
They have a metal headband, small circular pads in the ear and colorful backs for the lid, with blue green options, black or black finishes (and possibly more to come). But do not be deceived, they are really modern inside, with 5.4 and 40 mm Bluetooth conductors, which is impressive for so small lands.
Those who like the best headphones in the ear are a bit hungry for wireless options compared to the many ear options in the market, so they will be welcome, and they will look very great. Pleasantly, they come with spare ear pads, so you don’t need to worry about getting them out. The battery life is approximately 20 hours.
The tub
My next favorite of the collection is the Tina, which is a headdress with a 120 W built -in speaker, which Philips says that it is the most powerful speaker ever put in a headdress all in one to date. It is a stereo configuration of 2.1, with two complete range drivers and a subwoofer reflex of four inches.
There is an aluminum dish and a tone with an adjustable counterweight, and it comes with an audio-technical magnet cartridge. In addition to playing music through the speakers, you can play on Bluetooth, including the use of aircraft to play on several speakers at the same time, and has a 6.3 mm atrial outlet.
But this is not just to compete with the best toadiscos for the vinyl game alone; You can also transmit music through Bluetooth, or it has RCA AUX-IN, in addition to reproduction of USB files and even digital radio tunkers and FM.
And besides all that, it is very striking to see in person. That combination of wood sheet from the middle of the century and front grid, with thick dials at each end, is a great statement in a sideboard.
The Freddie
Perfect to combine with the Tina to listen private is the Freddie, a set of deeply padded open headphones with 50 mm conductors. Philips has made many very pleasant headphones throughout the years of its Fidelio brand, and it seems that many of the principles have been used here, but with a brown finish that only shouts ‘hi-fi of the old school’. Well, maybe screaming is not appropriate for the time; More croishe through a smoked mist in a listening club.
There is a 3M cable included, and double -layer headphones are made to be more breathable than the oldest headphones, and with a suspended headband for a long listening.
The Stevie
The next on my personal favorite list is the Stevie, which is another tab all in one. It has a more modern appearance, and is very directed to Vinyl beginners, with modest 12W speakers and the option to transmit it through Bluetooth and play discs.
The spinner is a three-speed matter, driven by the belt, with an audio-technique cartridge mm again. In addition to the built -in speakers, you can send the music to the Bluetooth speakers, and there is a 3.5 mm headphones connector.
The Janet
Finally, there is the Janet (in the photo to the right, above), which is a radio Dab+ and FM that aims to suggest an atmosphere of the 50s with its curved sides, although I think that its black finish and the LCD screen do That he looks too modern to really tickle the part of the retro -loving brain. He has a 5W speaker, and can transmit music through Bluetooth and the radio.
It has a 16 -hour battery life, and this is one of the many speakers that Philips is launching that it has an easily replaced rechargeable battery, if you stop maintaining the load from now on, you can buy another of Philips, open a cover and exchange the units. It’s great to see.
It is a pity that I cannot tell you more about how they sound, or, as important, how much they will cost. But I was totally delighted with the appearance of the ringo and the tub especially, so I am looking forward to arriving in September when we can see if what is inside lives abroad.
