An American woman, Onijah Andrew Robinson, caused a stir in Karachi after demanding $ 5,000 per week and expressing her desire to become a Pakistani citizen after a failed relationship with a local man.
Robinson, 33, had traveled to Pakistan in October 2024 to marry Nidal Ahmed Memon, 19, after the two supposedly entered an online relationship.
However, upon his arrival, Memon, under the pressure of his family, refused to marry her, leaving Robinson stranded in Karachi.
With a expired tourist visa and nowhere to stay, Robinson went to Memon’s house in the garden area, just to find that his family had unemployed the house and locked it.
Desperate and without support, organized a sitting outside the residence and took refuge in the parking area of the building. His actions caught the attention of residents and passersby, which led to growing concerns about security.
As the situation crawled, Robinson made a surprising demand, saying: “You have to give me $ 5000 per week. I am becoming a citizen of Pakistan.” In addition, he threatened not to go unless his demands were met. This led to the intervention of local authorities.
SDPO Clifton Faiza Sodhar met later with Robinson, addressing his concerns and transferring it to a women’s police station for their safety and well -being.
Meanwhile, Robinson insisted on returning to the garden area, where Memon had abandoned her.
Later, police sources said Memon had been arrested and had been reduced while his family had already left the house.
Previously, Robinson had also caused a delay at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport after refusing to address his return flight to the United States.
Despite the consulate assistance of the United States and a return ticket that is being organized, Robinson resisted immigration authorization, causing a 36 -minute delay.
Then, the Sindh government and the JDC Foundation intervened, buying a return ticket for Robinson and covering its medical expenses, ensuring that it could finally return to the United States after a week of uncertainty.
