Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed his willingness to resume conversations with Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) and proposed the formation of a parliamentary committee to address the ongoing problems.
At a federal cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Sharif recalled the previous conversations with PTI, which began with the formation of a committee after PTI’s offer.
He mentioned that the PTI had submitted written lawsuits through the speaker, which was expected that the Government Committee would respond in writing. However, the meeting scheduled on January 28 was canceled by PTI.
Prime Minister Sharif emphasized that it was only logical to respond in writing to written demands. He recalled that after the 2018 elections, when the opposition entered the Parliament with black bracelets, then Minsiter Primo Imran Khan had initiated the formation of a parliamentary committee to investigate the concerns related to the elections. Prime Minister Sharif said that PTI never formed a judicial commission, but rather a committee.
In addition, he urged PTI to resume dialogue and work together to form a new committee to investigate the 2018 and 2024 elections and take out the facts.
Previously at the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif honored the sacrifices of the Pakistani soldiers who were martyred while fighting the terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, emphasizing the nation’s duty to honor the fallen heroes.
In his speech, the prime minister also welcomed the decision of the state bank to reduce the policy rate by 1%, stating that a major cut would have been beneficial for companies and industries. He expressed optimism about the country’s growth and economic development.
Prime Minister Sharif also addressed the issue of human trafficking, expressing a deep concern for the loss of hundreds of Pakistani lives due to illegal contraband operations.
He assured that the government focused on eradicating trafficking in persons and would not rest until those responsible were responsible.
