During the last episode of his podcast, the three -time NBA champion Dwyane Wade revealed some details about a health scare that he faced more than a year ago.
Wade underwent surgery in December 2023 that eliminated 40% of a kidney. Surgery was followed by what Wade described as a “shocking” cancer diagnosis.
A full body exploration confirmed the presence of a “cyst/tumor” in one of Wade’s kidneys.
“And the doctor said: ‘You need to undergo renal surgery,” said the 43 -year -old retired basketball star in the Thursday edition of “The Why Why Dwyane Wade.”

Wade admitted that he greatly avoided seeing a doctor over the years for a physique, but finally made an appointment once he began experiencing stomach problems, cramps and problems urinating.

Wade said the scare of health left him weakened.
“I think it was the first time that my family, my dad, my children, they saw me weak,” he said. “That moment was probably the weakest point I’ve felt in my life … I was fighting, dog. Fighting.
“And one thing you never want to do as a man is that you never want your family to see you as weak. You don’t want to be perceived weak, and you don’t want them to see you in your weak moments. But I had to.”
Wade’s father, Dwyane Wade Mr., also had a battle against prostate cancer. The former Miami Heat star said that experiencing health scare helped him realize the importance of the family.

Wade did not reveal details about his current health.
