A Committee of the Senate of the State of Georgia approved the Law of Fair and Safe Athletic Opportunities on Thursday after the testimony of multiple female athletes who have competed and shared the costumes with transgender athletes.
The bill would require athletes to participate in teams that align with their biological sex at birth. If promulgated, Georgia would become the 26th state in the United States to have a law to avoid or restrict transgender athletes to compete in women’s sports.
Georgia has been a main border for this problem after the State was the host of the Women’s Swimming Championships of the NCAA 2022, which included the transgender swimmer Lia Thomas.
Two of Thomas’s former opponents testified at the State Hearing of the Congress on Thursday.

The former female swimmer of the state of North Carolina, Kylee Alons, 31 times All-American and twice NCAA champion, talked about the experience that competed and shared a costume with Thomas.
“We were all only Indian bunny for a giant social experiment formed by the NCAA on how much abuse and shameless contempt of women would be forced to make silence,” Alons said.
Alons related the emotions he felt that they shared competitive areas with Thomas, and how much sadness felt when he saw women lose opportunities to compete fairly in the event. Alons even said he wanted to cry and leave the event after seeing Thomas win the 500 meter freestyle.
“Everything felt so bad and bad,” he said.

Things became much more difficult for Lyons after experiencing a costume with Thomas.

The former swimmer of the University of Kentucky, Kaitlyn Wheeler, joined Lyons to tell the experience of sharing a costume with Thomas.
“Young women, teenagers were forced to undress with a completely intact biological man who exposed us, while we were simultaneously completely exposed,” Wheeler said. “They never asked us. They never gave us an option or other option. It was only expected that we would agree with that, to push our discomfort, our shame, our fear, because defending ourselves would mean being labeled as intolerant or hateful or intolerant.”

Wheeler and Lyons are demanding in a continuous lawsuit against the NCAA led by their former swimmer and competitor of the 2022 NCAA Championship, Riley Gaines, about the NCAA’s policies on gender ideology.
Wheeler and Lyons shared their experiences with a message that urged state senators at the hearing to approve the Law of Fair and Safe Athletic Opportunities.
