- NVIDIA RTX 5080 and 5090 was just as the rumor factory predicted
- The stock was light and sold out very quickly in fact
- There were tails, an inevitable clamor for next -generation GPUs and even chaotic scenes in a Japanese retailer
The RTX 5080 and 5090 graphics cards of NVIDIA were depleted very quickly, as rumors were predicted, yesterday’s release day, and there was some chaos and clamor around the launch of these first Blackwell GPUs.
At the time of writing, the day after the launch, everything remains exhausted in the great retailers of the United States and the United Kingdom, I just took a round of explorers, at least in terms of independent graphics cards.
Even the RTX 5080 models of very expensive third parties at the premium extreme of the spectrum were sold out in the blink of an eye.
Yes, the only option to get a Blackwell GPU is currently buying a complete PC with one of the tables, where you are obviously paying a lot of money for a high -end machine with a large margin.
As for clamor, there were large lines in some retail stores in the US., With people queuing for their opportunity in an RTX 5090 days before the launch. As Videcardz reports, there were somewhat chaotic scenes in Japan where, in a store called PC Koubou, the candidates for NVIDIA GPU buyers ended up climbing the fence of a garden of infants next door (in an effort to enter and buy a GPU, presumably, presumably).
That was one of the stores in Japan where a lottery system was implemented to try to buy a Blackwell GPU is a fair process, but clearly, it went wrong here.
In general, there are accusations of Nvidia that make the RTX 5000 a ‘paper release’, which means that there was only a very small amount of inventory available on the release day.
As Videocardz points out, theorizing in Reddit, which we must have particularly careful, suggests that there were only 250 units of the RTX 5090 in micro centers in the US. UU., And only 2,400 or so from RTX 5080. Certainly, the flagship was predicted that anyway would fade anyway, through rumors, but it was expected that RTX 5080 reaches somewhat better stock levels than this approximate account of Reddit.
ANALYSIS: NO FEED TO THE PAMOS
As mentioned, the only real shot that currently has a Blackwell GPU is to buy a complete PC, inevitably a very expensive premium model that will manage a few large. It could, in theory, replace the RTX 5000 GPU with its own (of which you are updating) and sell the second -hand PC (like almost new), but that is potentially many discomforts and headaches, so most of the majority of I will not consider that option (I would certainly not).
The other option, which is not really any option, is to buy an RTX 5090 or 5080 in a auction place of a climber that has seriously increased the price. Do not do this, do not feed the price gougers, do whatever you do, please. It is interesting to see in people like eBay that there are many more reasonable Blackwell Blackwell listings that are made only to catch bots, and clearly affirm that they are just a photo of the GPU in the description. (As well as those who try to sell their early orders in the place, of course).
Only the usual chaos around the launch of a new generation of GPU, on the ground, then. I would suggest, for now, that you only try to be patient. (Do not feed the chargers, have I said that? I just imagine that collective sweating is happening if those listings do not change, and have to continue going down and lowering prices).
Keep your eyes wide on our blogs live where Techradar still keeps a clock in all the main retailers, for RTX 5090 graphics cards, and also the RTX 5080 GPUs, and we will alert it there if any existence reaches again. But for now. , the chances of buying an RTX 5090 or 5080 still seem very remote to say the least.
Of course, the attention will soon resort to the launch of the RTX 5070 models next month, and how the stocks will shake there. And after that, the eyes of the players will look at what AMD is doing with RDNA 4 in March. As we know that some RX 9070 graphics cards are already on retailers, hopefully, Team Red should have a much better next generation launch for stock levels of what we witness with NVIDIA yesterday.
