Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched an anti-political campaign at the national level for the year 2025 by administering drops of polyomyelitis to children under five years.
When heading to the launch ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz reaffirmed his government’s determination to eliminate the country’s paralyzing disease.
He said that the national polyomyelitis vaccination campaign would be directed to millions of children in the country to save their future and health. The Nationwide Anti-Polio campaign will run from February 3 to 9.
The prime minister expected the dedicated teams to work day and night to eradicate the disease, and would reach remote areas and peoples, adding that these teams would successfully fulfill the great national responsibility by using their complete energies.
The prime minister said that unfortunately, during the last year, a total of 77 cases of polio were reported in the country that emerged as a great challenge, in addition to raising a setback.
This year, only one case was reported, he said, and expressed the resolution to eradicate polyomyelitis at all costs, with the dedicated work of the team and the support of international partners.
The prime minister also expressed the hope that with international coordination and support, paralyzing disease in the fraternal neighborhood Afghanistan would end.
He appreciated all international partners, including WHO, UNICEF, the Bill Gates Foundation and the fraternal country of Saudi Arabia for their commitment and efforts for the government in their efforts to eliminate polyomyelitis.
Speaking on the occasion, the coordinator of the Prime Minister in the National Health Services, Dr. Mukhtar Bharat, said they had highlighted the number of polyomyelitis cases that were reported last year and did not hide it from the international community.
He said that all quarters felt with a positive result with concerted efforts and that only one case was reported this year.
He also appreciated the prime minister for his supervision without which they could not obtain the desired results.
For his part, the focal person of the prime minister in the eradication of polyomyelitis, Aysha Raza Faooq, said that the polyomyelitis vaccine was a public campaign in which all segments of society have to participate and urged parents Coordinate and save your children from polyomyelitis.
