PM Lanza Nationwide Anti-Poly Drive

Islamabad:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched on Sunday the first anti-political campaign throughout the year, which extends from February 3 to 9, managing polio drops to children under five years of age and reaffirming their commitment to eliminate Pakistan’s disease.

Speaking at the launch of the campaign, the Premier stressed his determination to fight the country of the polio.

According to Associated Press from Pakistan, he said, “the impulse of national vaccination of polyomyelitis would go to millions of children to save their future and health.”

The prime minister praised the dedication of vaccination equipment, expressing his confidence that they would work “day and night to eradicate the disease, and would reach remote areas and peoples.”

He said the teams would assume their responsibility with “complete energy and commitment.”

When commenting on last year’s figures, Prime Minister Shehbaz regretted that 77 cases of polio had been reported in the country, qualifying it as a great challenge and a setback in the fight against the disease.

Referring to the first case of Polio of the year, detected last month, the prime minister reiterated his unwavering resolution to eliminate polyomyelitis through dedicated teamwork and international cooperation.

He also expressed optimism that with the continuous global efforts, Afghanistan, neighbor Pokistan’s neighborhood of Pakistan, would also overcome the disease.

Shehbaz acknowledged the contributions of international partners, including the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, praising its commitment to the eradication efforts of Pakistan’s polyomyelitis.

Poly, a highly infectious disease that leads to paralysis, has no cure. The only defense against him are the multiple doses of the polyomyelitis vaccine and complete routine immunization for all children under five years to guarantee high immunity.

Pakistan is still one of the last two countries in the world, along with Afghanistan, where polyomyelitis remains endemic. Despite global efforts to eliminate virus, challenges such as safety threats, vaccine vaccine and erroneous information continue to hinder progress.

Last year, Pakistan reported more than 70 cases of polio, with traces of the virus detected in almost 90 districts. The first case of Poly of 2024 was reported in the district of Ismail Khan by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Meanwhile, the prime minister visited the residence of the president of the National Assembly (NA) Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in Lahore on Sunday.

He held a meeting with the president, which was also attended by Na Ghulam Mustafa Shah and the members of the National Assembly (MNAS) Khursheed Shah and Shazia Marri.

The prime minister extended the sincere congratulations to Vice President Ghulam Mustafa Shah for his son’s wedding, offering his best wishes and blessings for the newlyweds.

Other prominent members of the National Assembly were also present on the occasion.
