- The last update of the Fire TV software has eliminated a popular function
- You can no longer hide unwanted applications at your beginning
- It is possible to restore functionality with an application called ATVTools
Amazon is not an alien to silently eliminate the functions of Fire TV or break its functionality with software updates, and put again in the last firmware impulse for its popular transmission devices.
A new Fire TV update, which has been released to the first -generation and second generation fire television bars among other devices, has eliminated the option to hide applications on its home screen (as you saw by AFTVNews). That means that now a crowded grid of applications is caught that probably does not want, without option to disappear.
Previously, I could press the ‘Context’ button in a remote control of Fire TV (which has three horizontal lines) and see the option to hide its applications’. While it is possible to uninstall third -party applications, you cannot do this for Amazon applications themselves such as Freevee or Prime Video. Thanks Amazon.
The bad news is that this also means that the applications of other user profiles that have configured on its Fire TV device will be displayed in all user profiles. Unfortunately, there is evidence that Reddit has also hit other Fire TV bars, including the most recent Fire TV Stick 4K Max.
The solution
Fire TV Stick owners are increasingly unhappy with Amazon software updates, which sometimes feel user hostile, such as last year’s firmware that broke a series of popular third -party applications.
Fortunately, there seems to be a solution (for now) that allows you to hide applications again that you do not want to see on your home screen. As described by the YouTuber Techdoctoruk, the application of third -party ATVTools (available for Android and iOS) restores its ability to eliminate applications from the time of the hour of the hour, although in a longer way than before.
To do that with AtvTools, open the application and connect to your Fire TV device. Now go to the list of applications, look for the application you want to delete from your home screen, touch the three points and choose the option ‘Disable’. Once the application grid updates on its TV Fire, the application should now have been hidden.
It is likely that this is not the last time we hear that Amazon disables the characteristics of Fire TV Sick, since Amazon has previously defended some updates on behalf of improving security devices on Fire TV. If you are getting tired of this type of updates, it could be worth seeing alternatives such as Nvidia Shield TV Pro (see below), which has just obtained a rare discount on Amazon US.
