The NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell defended the policies of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) of the League during a Pox Pre-Superpress Press Conference with media members on Monday.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order to end Dei programs throughout the federal government in their early days in the White House.

Goodell was asked about the League’s commitment to diversity at the press conference.
“We put ourselves in diversity efforts because we felt it was the right thing for the National Soccer League, and we will continue those efforts because we have not only convinced ourselves, we have shown ourselves, which makes NFL make better,” said Goodell. “We are not in this because it is a trend to enter or a tendency to get out of it.
“Our efforts are fundamental in trying to attract the best possible talent in the National Football League, both inside and outside the field, as I said before. We see that. We see how it benefits the National Football League, and I think that we will continue those efforts. “
Goodell said that Dei’s efforts from the League were a reflection of the Foundation of the League.
“I think it is also clearly a reflection on our basis of fans and our communities and our players. People talk a lot about Rooney’s rule … for us there is no requirement to hire a particular individual on the basis of the race or Gender.

With Trump Nixing Dei’s efforts in government, some companies have delayed their own initiatives. Walmart, McDonald’s Amazon, Ford and Lowe’s are just some of those companies.
Goodell was asked if there would be any dismay between the League and its corporate sponsors if companies go back to the initiatives ofi.
“We do not do policies for our sponsors or any of the corporations, networks or partners we deal with,” he said. “We have many conversations about the importance of us. Obviously we will take everything into account … there are many corporations that have been linked to the so -called change of their diversity policies and have not really called directly on that. There are many conversations that happen about that,” .
Goodell said he didn’t have time to reflect on his role in the diversity commitment of the NFL, but believed the league improved.
“I am proud of this in this regard: I think that our diversity efforts have led to improve the NFL. It has attracted a better talent. We believe that we are better when we get different perspectives, people with different background, whether women. Or men or people Color: we become stronger and get better when we have that, “he said.
