Andy Reid de Chiefs undertakes to another year of training before the super bowl rematch with the Eagles: ‘I will return’

Andy Reid has spent the last 26 years as NFL coach. Next month, he will celebrate his 67th birthday.

Reid has built a curriculum worthy of fame, but will spend this week focusing on the present, not in the future.

He will be on the sidelines in New Orleans on Sunday when Kansas City bosses and the Eagles philadelphia face the Super Bowl.

Reid is a three -winner of the Super Bowl -winning coach and is the only chief coach in the NFL history that has registered 100 wins with two different teams. He was the chief coach of the Philadelphia Eagles of 1999-2012 and has trained the Chiefs since the 2013 season.

Reid will enter the regular season 2025 as the second oldest coach in the League, only behind Pete Carroll, 73. Las Vegas Raiders hired Carroll earlier this month.

Given their age and achievements, some have asked questions about when Reid will decide to move away from football. Shortly after the Chiefs arrived in New Orleans for the Great Game, the former chief coach addressed speculation about his training future.

“Yes, I will come back,” Reid said.

Reid’s statement supports the hopes of the Chiefs owner, Clark Hunt, the hopes that the coach was not “remotely close” to leave it.

“I don’t have the feeling that he is remotely about wanting to do,” Hunt told reporters. “I think he has always said that he will know when the right time is, and I am sure he will share with me before he shares with all others, at least, I hope so. I don’t feel he is close to since.”

Don Shula, Bill Belichick and George Halas constitute the brief list of coaches in the NFL history to win 300 regular seasonal games. Reid is attributed 273 regular season victories and 28 playoff victories.

But Reid made it clear that his plans to return next season were not made in an effort to overcome the former head of the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick, in the list of victories of all time.

“That’s not part of that,” Reid said. “I just enjoy teaching. I don’t have much trapped in statistics or records. I enjoy being close to the boys. I enjoy football, the game. You can’t spend the hours we do and not enjoy it. I love the game.”

The Super Bowl begins at 6:30 pm Et February 9 of Caesars Superdome in Fox.
