Public service stores so as not to have any paper in the Ramazan package

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Tuesday that the Government would present the Ramazan help pack this year without the role of public service stores to avoid corruption and distribution of low quality products to people.

He told the members of the cabinet that last year, the government had received many complaints about the execution of the Ramazan package by public service stores. Therefore, the Government has devised a solution to provide the installation less public service stores.

The prime minister ordered the immediate measures to operationalize the port of Gwadar commercially and instructed the formation of a committee under the minister’s presidency to plan Ahsan IQBAL to work with all interested parties to transform it into a modern and fully functional port.

Iqbal gave a detailed informative session on the port of Gwadar at the cabinet meeting.

The prime minister also led the organization of an international conference to raise awareness about the importance of the port of Gwadar. “A comprehensive marketing and awareness strategy should be devised and diplomatic efforts with respect to the port of Gwadar must be accelerated.”

The meeting was also reported that Gwadar’s free zone had been exempt from all federal, provincial and local taxes and the rules for the free zone had been completed.

It was revealed that between 2018 and 2022, criminal negligence was regarding dredging in the port of Gwadar, which seriously affected its depth. However, the dredging was completed in 2022-23, after which its depth had been restored. All the necessary public services services in the Gwadar port were added, it was added.

The meeting was also informed about several public welfare projects in GWADAR, including the Pak-China Friendship Hospital, the Gwadar Technical Education Institute, the Pak-China Elementary School, the GWADAR surveillance media project, the fishing processing of Gwadar and the export zone, and the Gwadar Solar Park.

Prime Minister was informed that the government was also working to link Gwadar with the main line of Pakistan Railways M-4.

The Gwadar-Quetta road was completed in 2018, benefiting areas such as Tobat, Hoshab and Panjgur. In addition, the remaining sections of the M-8 highway (Dro de Gwadar-HoShab-Rato) were under construction to connect Gwadar with Sukkur.

To further improve the connectivity of Gwadar-Quetta, the Nokundi-Mashkhel road was being built, while the work on the Mashkhel-Panjgur road would begin soon, it was said.

The work at Gwadar East Bay Expressway was carried out at fast speed while the work at Gwadar Safe City was completed in collaboration with the Baluchistan government.

The minister proposed to modernize the loading inspection facilities in the port of Gwadar and use artificial intelligence for this purpose. The prime minister appreciated the information session.
