In a shameless assault during the night, the militants attacked a police check in Karak during the early hours of Thursday, killing at least two police officers and injuring another six, authorities confirmed Thursday.
The attackers, armed with heavy weapons, launched a large flood of shots at the police station in the city of Bahadurkhel.
The deceased officers have been identified as the Naqeeb and Dnan driver. Four wounded personnel were urgently transferred to the Hospital of the District headquarters in Karak to receive treatment. It is reported that two of the injured are in critical condition and have been transferred to Peshawar for advanced medical care.
District Police Officer (DPO) Karak Informed Geographical news that the assailants fled the scene after retaliation.
A heavy police contingent immediately reached the accident site, cordoning off the area and starting a search operation to stop perpetrators.
Security measures have been increased throughout the area after the incident.
The attack occurs a few days after a policeman was shot dead in the Khyber district during a campaign against the polio.

During a meeting of the Central Apex Committee in the National Action Plan (NAP) on January 3, Prime Minister Shehbaz urged federal and provincial authorities to develop a comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism and guarantee peace throughout the country .
He specifically highlighted the presence of infiltrates in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and praised security forces for the robust response to recent cross -border terrorist attacks.
