The Lahore administration has denied the permission of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) to celebrate a concentration on February 8, citing security concerns. The decision was made after considering the recommendations of the District Intelligence Committee.
The official notification issued on Thursday stated that, due to security reasons, PTI cannot be granted permission for the meeting.
The notification also pointed out that several important events would take place in Lahore on February 8, including a Cricket party, a cattle show and a speaker conference.
In addition, the Administration referred to the past actions of PTI as a significant factor in the decision, particularly the events of May 9, which led to concerns about the security of public meetings.
Today early, Lahore’s Superior Court had ordered the deputy commissioner of Lahore to make a decision on PTI’s permission to hold the demonstration in mine-e-pakistan at 5 in the afternoon.
PTI had approached the court on February 3 to seek the approval of the demonstration, stating that it was important to protest against the alleged violation of his mandate.
On January 29, the Chief Organizer of Punjab de PTI, Aaliya Hamza, had announced that the party would celebrate a demonstration in mine-e-pakistan on February 8 to protest against what they called an assault on PTI’s mandate.
The party submitted a request to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, requesting the official approval of the event in Iqbal Park.
Addressing the media outside the DC office, PTI Aliya Hamza’s leader reiterated the party’s demand, stating: “We seek permission to observe ‘Yom-E-Siyah [Black Day]’On February 8, when the public mandate was stolen [one year ago]”
Hamza emphasized that PTI would not accept any restriction this time, stating that the rally would proceed regardless of the administration’s position.
