PTI denied permission to celebrate Lahore Rally

LAHORE:

After the intervention of the Superior Court of Lahore (LHC), the Lahore district administration finally informed the PTI on Thursday night that he could not celebrate a rally at the Minar-E-Pakistan tomorrow, February 8.

The PTI had announced to celebrate a public demonstration on February 8, the first anniversary of the last general elections that the party describes as highly manipulated, last week of January. In this sense, the party leader, Alia Hamza, had sought a formal permit of the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore (DC).

Later, Alia moved the LHC in view of a delay by the district administration by deciding the matter. An LHC bank composed of Farooq Haider justice on Thursday morning took its plea.

After a brief hearing, the court ordered the authorities to decide on the request of the PTI at 5pm on Thursday. The PTI’s legal team was present at the DC office until night, but then an order was distributed on behalf of an intelligence committee of the district.

According to the circular, “granting permission for the PTI meeting on the specified date would not be feasible.” This decision was mainly promoted by the fact that the month of February is already saturated with a series of high profile of national and international importance.

These events include the Triangular ODI series; the First Regional Conference of Asia Joint and Southeast Asia 2025; the 9th Faiz Festival; The horse and the cattle show 2025; the men’s champions trophy; The Literary Festival of Lahore and the Raiwind Tabhi Ijtima.

He said that these events require extensive security agreements and the deployment of law enforcement agencies. Therefore, in recommendations of the District Intelligence Committee, Lahore DC Syed Musa Raza rejected PTI’s request.

“To maintain the situation of the law and order … The Punjab government has requested the services of the Army and the Pakistan rangers in Lahore to perform these important events peacefully following alerts of recent threat alerts,” he said.

According to the circular, the great IQbal park in which the mine-e-pakistan is located is a state-of-the-art park that has historical importance.

“A political meeting will destroy the facilities and plantation in the park. [The] Past behavior of the PTI [during] different political meetings [is a testimony in this regard]. The PTI used to violate the conditions on such occasions and participation of proclaimed criminals on stage, “he added.

PTI legislators to hold the Convention
