- Despite previous reports, Samsung messages have not been discontinued
- Samsung’s native messaging application even had restored RCS compatibility
- Samsung messages is now only available through Galaxy Store
Despite a previous statement widely performed as an interruption ad, Google’s messages from Samsung’s messages is still available for Samsung Galaxy smartphone users; In fact, he only received a new update.
Samsung messages, which are now only available through the Samsung-Run Galaxy Store application, has been updated to include Google’s implementation of rcs or enriched communication services.
As we report previously, RCS allows you to share IMessage and group chats media for phones of any platform. Samsung users have had access to RCS through Google messages for years.
Samsung Menses previously offered a patented RCS implementation, although, as Android Authority points out, this was extracted last year as part of the change to Google messages as the default messaging application for Galaxy phones.
Recently we reported that Samsung’s messages had been discontinued and would not be available to Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra.
This was due to a Samsung statement, originally informed by Android Authority, which said (in part): “We have chosen to migrate all services to Google messages and are Samsung messages of Sol. It is no longer available in Play Store; However, those who chose to use Samsung messages can still do it. ”
Although our coverage, also that others such as Phonerena, interpreted the “sun plate” as a lighter way to say “turn off”, Samsung later informed us that this was not exactly the case.
A subsequent statement that Samsung provided us directly, said: “Starting with the new models, the Samsung Messages application will no longer be preloaded. Instead, Google Messages will provide a new and improved experience to express your emotions, making communication safe and fun. The Samsung Messages application is still available to download from the Galaxy store with some excluded features. “
The new models in question are the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, Galaxy S25 ultra and presumably the new Galaxy S25 EDGE. Instead of losing access to Samsung messages, it seems that the owners of the newest Samsung Galaxy phones will have to look for the application in Samsung’s own Galaxy store.
There have been some round trip about the future of Samsung’s messages, but an official update like this suggests that it is staying for a while, even if it is only like a marginalized alternative to Google messages now defined. As demonstrated by a Jeff Springer video by Sammyguru, Samsung Menses is not available from the Google Play store.
In any case, it is unlikely that a reorganization of the messaging application prevents the Galaxy S25 series from collecting places in our lists of the best phones and the best Samsung phones.
