Faisal Chaudhry, Pakistan’s lawyer Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, was briefly arrested outside the Adiala prison after a heated discussion with prison staff.
According to the sources, Chaudhry was arrested after a confrontation with a prison officer, Imran Riyaz, who, according to the reports, prevented him from entering the facilities, said Express News.
The incident took place when Chaudhry, who had been given prior access to visit Imran Khan, was denied entry into the prison doors. This led to a verbal altercation, during which Chaudhry used an offensive language towards prison staff.
As a result, Adial prison authorities made the decision to stop the prominent lawyer.
Chaudhry went to the media out of jail, claiming that the incident occurred due to a misunderstanding with respect to his entrance.
He explained that the altercation took place at the internal door of the installation, where he had already shared the judicial instructions with the prison superintendent through WhatsApp.
Chaudhry said that prison officers, who had recorded the video of the exchange, were responsible for increasing the situation.
The lawyer also suggested that his only ‘guilt’ was to publicly share the statements made by the founder of PTI, Imran Khan, out of jail.
After the incident, Faisal Chaudhry was arrested and now faces charges related to verbal abuse directed towards prison officers. According to the reports, he was released from the station after a brief detention.
