Pakistan has firmly condemned the comments of the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, suggesting that the Palestinian people should establish a state in Saudi Arabia, qualifying the declaration “irresponsible, provocative and thoughtless.”
The condemnation came from the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, after Netyahu’s comments during an interview on Channel 14 Pro-Nananyahu.
The Israeli leader seemed to be joking when he responded to an interviewer who said by mistake “Saudi State” instead of the “Palestinian State”, before correcteding himself.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, FM said: “The Israeli comment is irresponsible, provocative and thoughtless, which is not only deeply offensive, but also undermines and ignores the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to self -determination and a Independent state in its own historical and legitimate territory. “
Pakistan reaffirmed his solidarity with Saudi Arabia, praising the firm support of the kingdom to the Palestinian cause. The Foreign Ministry declared that any attempt to misrepresent the position of Saudi Arabia in Palestine was “deeply unfortunate.”
FM Dar reiterated Pakistan’s position on Palestine, stating that the Palestinian people have an “inalienable right to establish an independent and sovereign state based on the borders before 1967, with Al Quds to Sharif as its capital.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly rejected any proposal that seeks to displace or relocate the Palestinians, qualifying it as “shameless violation of international law, UN resolutions and the principles of justice and equity.”
Pakistan promised to continue working closely with Saudi Arabia and the international community to advocate the rights of the Palestinians and press for a fair, comprehensive and lasting solution to the conflict.
Pakistan also urged the international community to denounce the provocative comments of Netyahu and hold Israel to underminate the peace process.
