The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has sent a new supply of emergency medicines for Upper Kurram While maintaining its aid operations in the ongoing helicopter, the provincial health advisor Ehtesham Khan said Monday.
More than 500 kg of emergency medications, donated by several NGOs and charity organizations, are being transferred by plane to the region aboard the MI-17 helicopter of the provincial government.
The supplies will be delivered to the medical superintendent in Parachinar.
Despite the crisis, the federal government has not yet provided medicines or financial assistance, said Ehtesham Khan, criticizing the inaction.
“The people of Kurram continue to look towards the support center, but nothing has arrived so far,” he added.
Meanwhile, local authorities report that helicopter evacuations have transported more than 230 people throughout the district, with still running flights.
More than 1,200 patients have received medical treatment as help efforts persist.
In an attempt to restore peace, district officials and tribal elders are discussing measures to guarantee the application of a recent security agreement.
The administration has also confirmed the demolition of bunkers in Piwar and Balish Khel to strengthen stability in the area.
Last week, the authorities in the Kurram district demolished four more bunkers as part of the ongoing efforts to enforce a local peace agreement, while the rival factions will hold a second round of conversations in Peshawar today, according to Express News.
According to district officials, the elimination of bunkers is proceeding as agreed, and the latest demolitions take place in Balish Khel and Anarkali using explosives.
The authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to implement the Kohat Peace Agreement, whose objective is to stabilize the region. Measures such as escorted convoys are also being introduced to guarantee public safety.
