Tiger Woods announced Monday that he will no longer participate in invitational genesis, since he was still “processing” his mother’s death.
Woods revealed last week that his mother, Kultida, had died. She was 78 years old.

“I planned to look at him this week, but I’m not ready,” Woods said in a statement. “I did my best to prepare, knowing what my mother would have wanted, but I am still processing her loss.
“Thanks to all who have approached. I hope to be in Torrey later in the week and appreciate the goodness continued since my mother’s death.”
Woods played President Donald Trump on Sunday before the commander in chief took New Orleans to attend the Super Bowl Lix, according to a White House official.

Trump sent his condolences to Woods and his family after the golfer announced the death of his mother.
“They informed me that Tiger Woods’s wonderful mother, Kultida, died, has gone to the greatest streets!” Trump wrote in a publication. “Kultida Woods was an incredible influence on Tiger, and gave him a lot of his strength and brilliance. Melania and I sent our love and prayers to Tiger and his incredible family!”
The Woods Foundation organizes the invitational genesis. The event does not have a cutting line. If he participated, it would have been his first tournament since he had a microdisctomy in September to relieve leg pain.

The event will take place in Torrey Pines this season instead of Riviera due to forest fires that affected the Los Angeles area in January.
