The opposition leader of the National Assembly, Omar Ayub, has announced that his party will present concerns about the general elections of 2024 and the 26th constitutional amendment before the delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
“We will present the entire issue of the elections to the IMF delegation,” said Ayub. “We will also highlight the problems caused by the 26th amendment.”
His comments occur when an IMF delegation of six members arrived at the Supreme Court for a meeting with the president of the Supreme Court Yahya Afridi.
On Sunday, the Minstary of Finance confirmed that an IMF mission will visit Pakistan to carry out an evaluation of the diagnosis of governance and corruption under the program of extended fund facilities 2024 of the country.
The Ministry added that the report will recommend actions to address the vulnerabilities of corruption and strengthening integrity and governance, noting that findings would help shape structural reforms.
“The mission approach will be to examine the severity of corruption vulnerabilities in six central state functions. These include fiscal governance, governance and operations of the Central Bank, supervision of the financial sector, market regulation, rule of law and AML-CFT, ”said the ministry in the statement.
Pakistan, currently reinforced by an installation of $ 7 billion of the IMF granted in September, is browsing an economic recovery. The IMF is ready to review the progress of Pakistan in March, with the Government and the Central Bank expressing its confidence in meeting its objectives.
