A new rumor suggests that AMD is preparing to launch its RX 9000 series of flagship graphics cards with an “aggressive” price to compete with Archirrival Nvidia.
As Wccftech reports, although AMD has not yet revealed its price plans for its next RDNA 4 graphics cards, a publication of leaks in your home suggests that the red team will not be played, and could set the price of the Radeon RX 9000 GPU Low enough as a real cause some real headaches.
The rumor also suggests that this price could even affect the sales of the radeon RX 7800 XT older.
The cost of war
AMD launched the Radeon RX 7800 XT in 2023 for $ 499.99 (around £ 380/au $ 725), so the filter comments suggest that the new RX 9070 GPU series will be launched for around $ 500 – $ 600 .
This will put them in direct competition with the next GeForce RTX 5070 and 5070 TI of NVIDIA, which will be launched this month for $ 549 (£ 549 / AU $ 1,509) and $ 749 (£ 749 / AU $ 1,109), respectively. A new leak suggests that 5070 TI could be launched on February 20.
The next RX 9070 XT of AMD is expected to coincide with the RTX 5070 TI when it comes to performance, if that is correct and costs significantly less, then Nvidia could finally have a real fight in your hands.
It is no secret that AMD GPUs are much less popular than NVIDIA (you just need to see the most recent Steam Hardware Surve Unique correct opportunity now to take a decent part of the Nvidia market.
Hype is constantly being built for the next AMD GPU, and the reference results that are apparently early leaks are promising. If AMD nails the price, it could be with a real opportunity to hinder Nvidia’s life a bit more difficult.
The NVIDIA launch of the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 offers another opportunity for AMD to win customers. Not because those are bad GPU, far from that, but because since its launch, they have been very impossible to get, since the stocks quickly exhausted.
Of course, that is great news for Nvidia, but it means that AMD could tempt PC players frustrated to collect one of their new GPU instead of waiting for more stocks of Nvidia cards to appear.
We will have to wait and see if AMD manages to take advantage of these opportunities or not.
