- Samsung Galaxy S26 phones could use silicon carbon batteries
- These could provide capabilities of up to 7,000 mAh, according to a new report
- Silicon carbon batteries seem to be the future of phone batteries
If you have not yet taken a Samsung Galaxy S25, then it is worth waiting for the Galaxy S26, since it has leaned to obtain a great battery update.
A website report in Korean Language FNNEWS states that Samsung is considering a transfer to Silicio-Carbon batteries for its next-generation Galaxy phones, which could see that battery capabilities jump from 4,000 mAh and 5,000 mAh to 6,000 MAH and 7,000 mAh.
This increase in capacity would be facilitated by exchanging graphite in the anode of a conventional lithium -ion battery and using compound silicon carbide, allowing a smaller and densest battery in energy, since silicon can contain more ions than graphite. The use of silicon carbide instead of smooth silicon also makes a battery that is able to handle more power and voltages higher than silicon, and that has better thermal stability, everything that leads to a more powerful and efficient battery .
We have already seen that silicon carbon batteries appear on new phones, as you will see in our Oppo X8 Pro review. But the adoption of such battery technology, which can be expensive, has not yet found its way on Samsung phones, Google or Apple.
A new border for galaxies
I have been using the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra for a few weeks, and although I have not impressed the longevity of its 5,000 mAh battery, I have not disappointed either.
But the continuous increase in artificial intelligence (AI) tools and characteristics, and the greatest ability to run on the device instead of needing cloud support, means that current and future smartphones could be more hungry for energy than ever . Then there is the future movement at 6g to consider, that, as 5G, it could prove to be a drainage of the phone’s batteries when used.
Therefore, new ways to obtain more of the batteries of the same size as we see on today’s phones could be the next border of the next key to smartphones. And if the FNNews report is necessary, then Samsung could be one of the great brands to head this movement, although it will not be the first.
Since the Galaxy S25 family has just launched, with the phones that duly claim points on our best phones and the best Samsung phone lists, it will spend time before we see the Galaxy S26. But within 12 months, we could get a galaxy phone with a battery life that impresses us thoroughly.
