Sony seems to launch new headphones (probably the Sony Wh-000xm6 headphones) according to two presentations of recent products with the United States FCC and Singapore IMDA.
While the device is not called the XM6 explicitly in any of the presentation, on the other hand, both presentations label it as the equally easy to remember YY2984, the device looks horrible to an updated Sony WH-000xm5, and the few details share the Shared presentations suggest that it is a new entry on the Sony flagship line.
We say few details because short -term confidentiality agreements prevent these regulatory agencies from sharing all the most basic specifications and some diagrams of the next products. That means that we are still in the dark in many details and we will not have a clearer image until Sony officially shows it.
That said, because of the little information we have, we can begin to paint an image of what the XM6 can be capable and when we could try them for ourselves.
What do we know about Sony’s new headphones?
1. The launch date could be closed
While none of the presentations causes a precise launch date for the new Sony headphones, at least they suggest that we will not wait for much longer to try these cans for ourselves. This is because the confidentiality of the presentation of the FCC will expire in July of this year, at which time the most precise details in the device would be revealed to the public and would spoil any surprise that Sony has reserved.
As such, we hope that the new headphones arrive at some point before in the first half of 2025. Sony’s anterior headphones have been released months before this expiration date, so we could be on the way to an April launch or May. However, his assumption is as good as ours when it comes to nailing things even more.
2. Fast charging and Bluetooth 5.3
Due to confidentiality, many specifications remain a secret, but we have obtained some details of the presentations. First is the support for fast charge, as we have seen from Sony’s headphones before with a reference to the 9V load next to 5V, although it is not known what capacity the battery has to help us take us to its execution time.
However, we have seen that new headphones are ready to obtain Bluetooth 5.3, a step towards 5.2 used in Sony Wh-1000xm5 headphones, which should offer a more stable and efficient connection in energy. While initially it may seem disappointing that headphones do not support the last Bluetooth 5.4 standard, they are more aimed at commercial and intelligent products at home at home. The advantages it offers would not do much for the XM6, they are speaking.
3. Possibly there is no controller change
This is difficult to judge, but as Walkman’s blog also suggests, WH-000xm6 diagrams seem to show a driver size without changes in their predecessor: 30 mm. Compared to 40 mm controllers in the XM4s, the smallest hardware in the XM5S led to a more detailed and more adjusted sound, so it is likely that not much will change in terms of audio between XM6 and what came before , that will not necessarily be a bad thing.
