Shehbaz pushes the green agenda in Dubai Wgs


Dubai:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday asked governments around the world to improve climate financing, technology exchange and multilateral support for emerging economies such as Pakistan to achieve sustainable economic growth.

Speaking at the World Government Summit (WGS), he emphasized that the transition to a green economy was a shared global responsibility. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to mobilize internal resources and implement policy reforms to support this change.

The prime minister invited private investors to explore the unimportant potential of Pakistan in green energy and infrastructure, emphasizing that international associations and financial support were crucial to achieve these objectives.

“Pakistan’s energy transition alone requires an investment of $ 100 billion,” said Shehbaz, addressing global leaders at the summit. Despite the significant challenges, he pointed out that the stabilization of the economy had been a key achievement of his government during the past year.

He also highlighted positive economic indicators and the framework 5ES of the Government: export, e-pakistan, environment, energy and infrastructure, and equity and empowerment), as well as the initiative ‘Uraan Pakistan’.

“In the center of this agenda there is energy and sustainability security, not only as an economic need but as a national priority,” he said. Pakistan aims to produce 60% of its energy from clean sources by 2030 and the 30% transition of all vehicles to electric mobility.

He informed the audience that the government was rapidly expanding the generation of solar, wind and nuclear energy. “The southern region of Pakistan has 50,000 MW of non -exploited wind power potential, while northern hydroelectric projects can add 30,000MW of clean energy capacity,” he said.

He said that Pakistan with 70% of its population that includes dynamic young people and technology experts under 30, offered one of the most dynamic investment landscapes in Asia. “The strategic location of Pakistan put the South and Central Asia and its emerging middle class represents promising economic opportunities.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz told the summit that the government was simplifying trade regulations, improving legal protection and optimizing the approval mechanism to make Pakistan a leading destination for global capitals.

To boost investment in key sectors of the economy, said Prime Minister, the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) was established, focusing on renewable energy and resistant infrastructure, technology and digital economy, minerals and industrial development, agriculture and security Food

“Pakistan is adopting ecological agricultural innovation under the umbrella of the 2023 adaptation policy to improve productivity and guarantee food security and strengthen our rural economy,” he said. The government was also encouraging agricultural innovation by deploying systems with solar energy, he added.

“Pakistan is on the threshold of the new era that prioritized the advances of infrastructure, economic diversification and human development. The future is not something we passively inherit; rather it is something we actively form,” he said.

He appreciated the leadership of the United Arab Emirates (EAU) for organizing the summit in Dubai. “Dubai is a city where the future meets with the present. Leave this summit, announces a dawn of the global, sustainable and prosperous future for all,” he said.

Speaking about the situation in Palestine, the prime minister said that Pakistan believed that lasting and fair peace was only possible through a solution of two states according to the relevant UN resolutions for the creation of the independent state of Palestine.

Later, Shehbaz visited the exhibition of ‘The Edge of Government’ that highlighted global examples of better governance and initiatives. On the occasion, the prime minister met with the experts, providing modern solutions to the challenges in several sectors.

Apart from the WGS, the prime minister met several world leaders, including the president of the EAU and ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Prime Minister of the EAU and ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Kuwaiti First Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah al-Ahmad al-Sabah, president of Sri Lanka Anura Kumara Dissanayake and others.

During the meeting with Dubai’s ruler, Shehbaz thanked Sheikh to Maktoum for the invitation to WGS. He invited Emirarati companies to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan. Sheikh Mohammed reiterated Dubai’s commitment to strengthen economic and cultural ties with Pakistan.

The prime minister thanked the EAU leadership for their firm support and exceptional attention extended to the Pakistan community in the EAU. Sheikh Al Maktoum highly appreciated the contributions made by the diaspora of Pakistan and his dedication to the development of the EAU.

In addition, Shehbaz held conversations with the president of the EAU, Al Nahyan, on bilateral interest, including commercial and economic cooperation and recent developments in the Middle East. They emphasized the need for intensified international efforts for an integral and lasting peace in Palestine.

The meeting, held at QASR to Shati in Abu Dhabi, attended the head of the staff of the General Army Syed also Munir.

The meeting provided the opportunity to address the importance of WGS to identify global trends in governance and present processable strategies to improve government preparation in the navigation of global transformations.

The prime minister also maintained discussions on bilateral matters with the president of the DP World Group, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem. He praised the recent successful visit of the DP World Delegation to Pakistan, which promoted a significant investment collaboration between the two parties.

Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem expressed his gratitude for the continuous support of Pakistan and reaffirmed the DP world commitment to the appropriate complexes of the projects and exploring new ways for cooperation. He announced plans for an exhibition hall at the EAU to promote Pakistani products.
