Islamabad: The opposition parties reached on Tuesday a consensus that the prevailing national crisis requires a unified effort of all democratic forces to direct the country towards stability and recovery, The news reported.
Tehreek Tahafuz Aiyeen-E-Pakistan, Chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai organized a dinner in honor of opposition leaders, gathering key political figures.
It was attented by maulana fazlur rehman, Asad Qaiser, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Allama Nasir Abbas, Sahibzada Hamid Raz Khan, Shahram Tarakai, Sardar Shafiq Tareen, Aslam Ghori, Akhunzada Hussain and other leaders.
The leaders expressed surprise at the meeting of the International Monetary Fund Delegation (IMF) with the president of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi, saying that he had no precedents.
They also expressed concern about the country’s economic situation and said how could the economy improve when there is no rule of law and a justice system.
The opposition leaders were deeply concerned about the situation of law and order throughout the country, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan. They accused that the federal government had not been able to completely protect the lives and property of people.
They also agreed to hold a conference for everyone in the future to improve mutual relations and address the challenges facing the country and establish a management committee to write a national agenda.
They also decided to establish a Steering Committee, led by Abbasi, to write a national agenda. The Committee includes Qaiser, Faraz, Murtaza, Khokhar, Race, Tareen, Shirazi, Talmund and Akhunzada.
The opposition leaders reiterated the demand made after their first meeting last week that the transparent and free elections must be held immediately in the country, and that the Electoral Commission should renounce immediately and that an independent commission must be established.
The meeting condemned the serious violation of basic human rights in the country and demanded that all political prisoners, including Imran Khan, be released immediately.
