In compliance with an order from the Superior Court of Lahore, the Punjab Environmental Department has announced strict measures and strong sanctions to stop the unnecessary use of water.
As part of the initiative, a fine of RS10,000 has been imposed in the washing of vehicles in homes and the use of pipes for non -essential purposes. In addition, immediate measures have been ordered against illegal service stations.
A special committee has been formed, composed of principal minister Maryam Aurengzeb, the Secretary of Environment Raja Jahangir and the general director of Environmental Protection, Imran Hamed Sheikh, to guarantee the implementation of the directives of the Superior Court of Lahore.
According to DG Imran Hamed Sheikh, all Punjab service stations have received instructions to install water recycling systems before February 28. The service stations that do not comply with this directive will face a fine of RS100,000.
The new regulations also prohibit vehicle washing with oil -based substances and the use of groundwater in construction sites. These measures have been applied under Punjab’s environmental law with immediate effect.
The Environmental Department stressed that in the last five years, Punjab has experienced a 42% decrease in the rain, which leads to a serious shortage of water. These steps aim to address the growing concerns about water conservation.
The department has urged citizens to comply with these regulations and avoid unnecessary water use. Strict legal measures will be taken against those who are violating these directives.
